Mass at Aylesford Priory

The Knights of St Columba is the largest Catholic family fraternal service organization in the UK with seven thousand members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.

The work of the knights is carried out at both a local and national level. The KSC's successful national 'Wells for Water' campaign, which raised £277.000 over three years was followed by Projects to support the 'Help the Hospices' movement over two years which raised in excess of £109,000 and a Project known as 'Partners for Health' which ran until 2005 and raised £140,000. The current National Action Project known as 'Unsung Heroes' will run until 2008. In conjunction with the Samaritans, the Knights of St Columba have launched a life-saving partnership, through a three-year fundraising scheme.

Locally, the Knights of St Columba undertake various activities to provide support and assistance to the Community at large, families, the young and Council 211 crib in Scunthorpe

the Church. Such service can range from providing financial support for 'good causes' or sponsoring sporting activities for young people. Knights give freely of their time and energy to enhance the spiritual well-being of the local community; distributing posters; erecting Christmas cribs in prominent places; organizing seminars on social teaching; vocation exhibitions and  adopting a moral stance on life issues.
